How can I contact the Library?
E-mail us at email@example.com or call 650-508-3748 for the Circulation Desk or 650-508-3444 for the Reference Desk.
How do I find a book in the Library?
The Library Catalog is the key to locating books in the Library and is accessible from any computer with an Internet connection.
You may search for books by various headings, such as Subject, Author, or Title. Note the Collection and Call Number of items of interest. We use the Library of Congress classification system to organize our books. Don't hesitate to ask a librarian for help.
See this tutorial for more help finding print books and ebooks.
How do I get a library card and check out books?
There is no special library card. You may check out books with your NDNU student ID card. You just need to fill out a short registration form the first time you check out books. Books may be checked out for a three week period.
Can I renew checked out materials?
Yes, unless another patron has requested the item while it was checked out to you. Otherwise, you are permitted one renewal for an additional three-week period from the time the item was renewed.
Renewal requests can be done in person or sent via e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) or over the phone (650-508-3748). Just provide us with your name, ID number and the title(s) you wish to renew.
How do I print in the Library?
You can print from any Library computer. Every term, you receive 250 printouts for free. After you exceed this total, $.06 per page will be charged to your student account.
How do I get items that are in storage?
Give your request to the reference librarian (email@example.com or 650-508-3444) and it will be retrieved within 24 hours. We will make every effort to minimize your wait.
Where are the photocopiers?
We have two copy machines at the back of the Library, just outside the Library offices. Photocopies cost 10 cents per page, payable at the Circulation Desk in cash. You may also scan documents and send them to yourself via e-mail using these machines, free of charge.
Where are reserve books set aside for my course?
Reserve items are kept behind the Circulation Desk. Simply provide the circulation clerk with the number of your course and name of your professor, plus the title of the reserve item you wish to check out. Not every course puts their materials on reserve at the Library.
