Peer Reviewed vs. Popular

What is Peer Review?

Peer Reviewed (AKA Scholarly, AKA Academic) articles are written by experts for other experts.  An author will submit their research paper to a journal, where it is evaluated based on:

  • Quality
  • Accuracy
  • What new information and perspectives it can bring to the field (usually)

This video created by the Peabody Library at Vanderbilt University will explain what peer reviewed articles are, how they are different from other types of articles, and how to identify peer reviewed articles both in print and online.
